What to Expect

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church are a Dual Parish served by one pastor. We use of our synod's hymnal, Lutheran Service Book, in all services, whether the weekly Sunday service or the many special services throughout the year. Both congregations offer the Lord's Supper every Sunday. Members are free to choose to commune as often as they like. Both Congregations practice Closed Communion. We ask that you read our Communion statement as printed on this page. Gloria Dei and Redeemer are churches that seek to be faithful to the Scriptures as God's holy, inerrant, and powerful Word.  We understand the Scriptures to be the sole source of doctrine and the final authority upon which all teaching and practice is to be judged.   We also seek to hold faithfully to the Lutheran Confessions as contained in the Book of Concord of 1580 as a faithful application and summary of Scripture in teaching and practice.  To support this, we encourage in-depth study of the Bible and thorough instruction in the catechism for youth and adults prior to admission to altar fellowship.

Closed Communion is a Biblical and Historic practice of the Christian Church. It is prompted by love, both for God's Word and for His people since it seeks to prevent spiritual damage to those who do not recognize the true body and blood of Christ in, with and under the bread and wine in this Holy Supper (ICor. 11:29). Furthermore, it does not deny that members of other denominations are Christians. Rather, it bows the knee to the Bible's deep concern for doctrinal truth (Rom. 16:17) and the Bible's witness that the Lord's Supper is the highest expression of fellowship & doctrinal unity (Acts 2:42). For this reason, guests who are not a member of a sister Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregation are asked to please speak with the pastor before communing. Classes to become members are offered throughout the year. Please speak to the pastor if you are interested or have questions regarding membership.
